Our Methodology

Primary Sources

We use only primary, official government sources for payment date information. Our primary source is the Government of Canada Benefits Payment Dates calendar at canada.ca, which is maintained by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). This is the same page referenced by government call centres when answering questions about payment dates.

We supplement this with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) benefit payment dates page, which provides dates for CRA-administered programs including the Canada Child Benefit, Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, Alberta Child and Family Benefit, and Advanced Canada Workers Benefit. Provincial government websites are referenced for additional program context and eligibility information.

Verification Process

Each payment date is sourced from the official government publication and cross-referenced against the CRA payment dates page where applicable. Dates are stored as date-only values (YYYY-MM-DD) without timestamps to ensure consistency across time zones. We record the last time each source was checked and compare content to detect changes.

When new annual schedules are published (typically in late fall for the following year), we update our database and review all affected pages. If a published date changes — for example, due to a holiday conflict — we update the date across every page and display a correction notice where the change is material.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not extrapolate dates from previous years. If next year's schedule has not been published, we show “not yet announced” rather than guessing.
  • We do not use paid data APIs or screen-scraping bots. All dates are reviewed by a human editor.
  • We do not adjust dates for bank processing times, weekends, or holidays beyond what the official schedule already reflects.

Reporting Errors

If you find a discrepancy between a date on this website and the official government source, please report a correction. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate any reported issue promptly.
